BYD all-electric light truck may revolutionize inner-city transport in China
14. August 2014According to CarNewsChina.com, Chinese company BYD may hold a key to substantially improving inner city air quality in China: With its new T5 light truck, BYD has developed a light electric vehicle perfectly suited for inner city transport demands. With a top speed of 50 km/h, T5 is supposed to be able to drive up to 400 km – perfectly targeting the Chinese city transports which are characterized by generally low vehicle speed and driving range of some hundred kilometers per day. To convince delivery service providers to buy the T5, its smaller T3 and larger T7 EV, it is expected that government subsidies could be introduced to offset the higher price of electric vehicle technology, given that current diesel-fuelled delivery trucks are available at a much lower price.
