One step at a time: A complexity perspective for the next generation of EV policy

17. March 2015

A Dutch team of E-Mobility NSR colleagues produced a compact draft in which recent developments of European EV policy are critically reviewed and put in perspective. The authors provide sound evidence that the overall introduction of electric vehicles to markets is progressing at increasingly faster speed, not only fuelled by private-sphere developments, but also a range of activities by governments and civil society groups.

Key questions answered in the report include: What types of policy would truly foster success? What methods could be employed to overcome the critical market phase for EVs called ‘valley of death’? What types of concepts may foster the understanding and governance of the dynamic field of electric vehicles?

It is suggested that the next generation of EV policy may mainly focus on challenging and nurturing topical grassroot movements to continue facilitating the introduction of EVs to market. Download the full report here or via the E-Mobility NSR website’s info pool.
