The North Sea Region challenge: Electric cars to drive in 80 hours from London to Oslo

E-Mobility NSR initiates an electric mobility rally through its seven participating countries in the North Sea Region. On April 11, the rally begins in London, from where a total of five teams take on the challenge. All teams will be driving in electric sports cars, Tesla Model S, which currently set the bar for electric driving range, allowing transnational travelling. Throughout the journey, our drivers will add live-feeds to Twitter, informing on their driving progress (handles: @EmobilityNSR, @Coast2Coast_EV, @CIRCaCity, @80DR).

The overall campaign focuses on issues that NSR E-Mobility research identified as potential challenges to cross-border electric driving, such as the gaps between charge points and the conve­nience of their design and location. The practical findings feed into a survey of the charge point infrastructure that connects the project countries around the North Sea Region (NSR): Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Netherland, United Kingdom, Norway and Sweden. Finally, the results of the live rally will inform an ongoing appraisal of the existing challenges to cross-border electric driving, such as the gaps between charge points and the convenience of their design and location, to foster the search for transnational solutions.
